Join us for the Clay Walk!
Friday, February 18th
5 - 8 pm

Come visit us at ARTology and meet our newest member!  Our very own clay artist is Stephanie Burks!!  Come by the gallery and check out her beautiful work!

Stephanie grew up in Alabama. She studied Commercial Art (graphic design) at Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida and fell in love with clay while watching a woman throwing pottery on a potters wheel at a fine art event on the grounds of the Ringling Museum. Working with talented artists such as Boots Culbertson, Geoff Walsh, Frank Colson and Frank Eliscu, her knowledge and talent grew to include life size sculptures, bronze casting and concrete and mortar pieces. She began her own pottery business after returning to the area in 1980.

“What you see in my work is from deep inside of me from an ancient time. I like primitive firing.  Due to my Irish roots, I have an attraction for ancient things. My work is influenced by Native Americans and the Celts.  I am the mother of two sons and grandmother of three, which has been the most rewarding experience in my life.“

ART(ology)'s artist, Terri Keller will be participating in this event.  The Festival will be held Saturday, February 12th from 10am-4pm at Cathedral Square in downtown Mobile. Come see fantastic artwork from local artists, including fine art, folk art, photography, jewelry, quilts, wood work and so much more!

The month of February kicks of the Mardi Gras Season in Mobile!  It'll be Mardi Gras all month long at ART(ology) as well!  Our featured artist for the next couple of months is Mobile's Denise Inge!

Denise Inge is a native Mobilian and attended 12 years of parochial school there. Her childhood summers consisted of crabbing and soft shelling down the bay at her cousin and her great aunts’ homes, sleeping on the “sleeping porch” and waking up to fried soft shell for breakfast, vacations at the Gulf and she and her brothers and sisters swimming in the bay because her mother felt it was safe because it was shallow! She is the proud mother of one daughter and  "Mimi” to two grandsons.

“ Loving watercolors, I started on my journey in 2002 and the watercolors have been doing their own thing ever since…allowing me to grab on to “their” coat tails for the ride of my life…all the time being inspired by the beauty of my beloved Mobile and the South!”

Denise is a member of the Mobile Art Association and holds the office of Secretary for the group, a member of the Watercolor and Graphic Art Society of Mobile and holds the office of Treasurer, Assistant Director for Cathedral Square Gallery in downtown Mobile and a member of the Eastern Shore Art Center.
